For the next several days, we talked a lot about T.S.X. But, the options were sort of limited. We first talked to T.S.X. about reversing some of the changes for Myrna, but they repeated that it was a no-go. Once the changes start, they have to run their course for six months or so because it’s too much of a shock on the body to start, then suddenly reverse course. The body had to stabilize but they were looking into somehow shortening the process because similar “issues” to ours were coming up more often.

We placed our order.

“Thank you,” she chirped. “I hope you enjoy your dinner.”

I didn’t think the effects would happen so fast. But when I ordered steak and then, after eating it, pounced on the bone with both hands, and began gnawing on it—

Myrna hissed in surprise, then laughed. “Well, guess I don’t have to worry about guys crowding around me, anymore, do I?”

“Growf!” I laughed. “Guess not.” But out of the corner of my eye, I saw, at a table not far away, these three perfect, dark-eyed ladies, with hints of cocker spaniel about them, all looking at me, mouths open, panting.

I abruptly realized that bone on my plate wasn’t the only bone that demanded my attention...
